I often think about how I can better help the world and I believe I've found it. I've been talking to people about the most effect action to take and the most damaging things to our cause. The thing that hurts us most is invisibility, erasure and silence. If we are deemed non-existent, then the murder and oppression of LGBT people will be deemed ok, because it will be deemed a victimless crime.
We need to stop hiding, we need to stop "Going along with the program" In the words of the freedom fighter Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I call on everyone involved to become maladjusted. Become maladjusted to the intolerance we face daily, become maladjusted to "Separate but Equal", become maladjusted to homophobia and it's acceptance, become maladjusted to workplace discrimination based on your sexuality or gender identity, become maladjusted to the vicious character attacks of the religious right and become maladjusted to social gender roles.
Do not avoid showing your true self because the churches say it's a "sin" Do not suffer in silence because you are told you have to live as a gender that you are not. Confront! Fight! Do not relent! Do not give the vanguards of hate and intolerance a damn second to breath .Make it so they cannot possibly ignore us any longer! Wear your pride on your sleeve and show the world who we really are. I'm sure as hell not gonna stop. Not until there is freedom for all, or my heart ceases to beat.
No not let them push you back in the closet. The closet is death. And we want to live.
